KAPUR

Kapur s the product of several Dryobalanops species, mainly Dryobalanops aromatica, D.lanceolata, D.keithii, D.rappa, D.beccarii and D.oblongifolia. The timber dries moderately slowly to slowly with little degrade. ¡°Pin holes¡± (which are the galleries of dead Ambrosia beetles) are a common defect in this wood.

General description of the wood:- Sapwood is well-defined and yellowish brown in colour. The heartwood is reddish brown. The grain is straight or slightly interlocked or sometimes deeply interlocked. Texture is moderately coarse and even.
