KAPUR

Kapur s the product of several Dryobalanops species, mainly Dryobalanops aromatica, D.lanceolata, D.keithii, D.rappa, D.beccarii and D.oblongifolia. The timber dries moderately slowly to slowly with little degrade. “Pin holes” (which are the galleries of dead Ambrosia beetles) are a common defect in this wood.

General description of the wood:- Sapwood is well-defined and yellowish brown in colour. The heartwood is reddish brown. The grain is straight or slightly interlocked or sometimes deeply interlocked. Texture is moderately coarse and even.
