NYATOH
Nyatoh
is the light and reddish timber of several genera of the family
Sapotaceae but mainly of Palaquium. Generally the timber seasons
at an average rate with the lighter species drying faster than
the heavier species. Seasoning degrade is slight and is confined
to some insect attack on the sapwood, some end-checking and other
minor dimensional distortions.
General description of the wood:- The sapwood is moderately well defined. The
heartwood is deep pink-red or red-brown. The grain is straight to shallowly interlocked
and sometimes wavy. Texture moderately fine to slightly coarse and even.
